Eighth International Conference on Fatigue Damage of Structural Materials

INTRODUCTION

The eighth biennial Fatigue Damage of Structural Materials conference will be held in scenic Cape Cod at The Resort and Conference Center at Hyannis, Hyannis, Massachusetts from the 19 - 24 September 2010. Delegates from across the world will join together to discuss innovative test techniques and novel analytical methods focusing on "conventional" metallic systems, i.e. steels, aluminium, nickel and titanium alloys.

The traditional and well-received single oral presentations will allow sufficient time for follow-up discussions, friendly debate and relaxed participation.

The entire conference program is deliberately scheduled with equal significance to our poster sessions, themed in relation to the oral presentations and assessed for certificated awards via a process of peer review.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Abstract submission deadline: 7 December 2009

Abstracts are invited for poster presentations on the following symposium topics. Please submit abstracts using the Online Submission Form by7 December 2009 according to the abstract preparation guidelines.

Symposium Topics

  • Structural metals and alloys pertinent to the aerospace, marine, off-shore, power generation and land based transportation industries
  • Systematic, comprehensive experimental studies, particularly those in conjunction with novel analysis or  modelling approaches
  • Overload/underload, arbitrary loading sequences, service spectrum loads
  • Residual stress effects and measurement of internal stresses
  • Extreme environments, including high temperature, cryogenic temperatures, corrosive and abrasive environments pertinent to service conditions
  • Innovative theoretical approaches, related computational work and analytical methods
  • Life prediction methodologies for structural metals and alloys

All abstracts will be refereed and a criterion of rejection will be lack of originality. A condition of submission is that, if accepted, the paper will be presented at the International Conference on Fatigue Damage of Structural Materials by one of the authors.

SUBMIT YOUR ABSTRACT HERE.

LOCATION

The conference will take place at The Resort and Conference Center at Hyannis (previously known as the Four Points by Sheraton Hyannis Resort), on the beautiful Cape Cod peninsula at the southern tip of Massachusetts, USA. Located at the center of the Cape, Hyannis is renowned for its maritime cultures and natural environment which can be explored through activities such as whale watching, cycling and sailing. Frequent ferries leave Hyannis for the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.

Hyannis is approximately 80 miles (1½ hours) from either Logan International Airport (Boston, MA) or TF Green Airport (Providence, RI). The Resort and Conference Center at Hyannis is located approximately 2 miles from Barnstable Airport. Public transportation and taxis are available from all 3 airports.

The Cape Cod Mall and the historic waterfront district of Hyannis are both within easy reach of the conference venue. The Resort and Conference Center at Hyannis has a dedicated Conference Center and offers well-equipped bedrooms. The resort also has the Cape's largest state of the art health club with indoor and outdoor heated pools, tennis courts, 18-hole golf course and spa. Hotel booking information will be provided in the registration brochure and on this site.
