细菌和结肠癌的关系研究,概念与理论的知识发现

结肠癌是由细菌引发的吗?2011年10月份,两个研究小组发布了几乎相同的报告,指出一种名为“梭杆菌”(Fusobacteria)的细菌很不寻常,它们平常很少出现在人体肠道内,但是研究发现它们在结肠癌细胞中却异常活跃,并且似乎显示它们与肿瘤的恶性程度存在相关性。将健康的结肠组织和癌变组织进行对比,科学家们注意到这种细菌明显地集中并活跃于癌变细胞中,在一部分样本中,这种差异甚至达到了上百倍。
 
这是人们首次开始注意到这种细菌与癌症之间可能存在的关联性,但在此前,医学界已经留意到这种细菌似乎和溃疡性结肠炎的发生存在关联。
