Harald zur hausen, a famous German scientist and medical scientist, was born on March 11, 1936. Professor of Virology, Erlangen Nuremberg University, Germany; Professor of cell and molecular biomedicine, Tomsk State University, Russia. He currently works at the German Cancer Research Center. It took him more than ten years to discover that certain types of HPV were the pathogens of cervical cancer, which laid the foundation for the development of cervical cancer vaccine. He won the Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine in 2008 for discovering the virus that causes cervical cancer. [1]
