看见一本《悲观者的历史》(The Pessimist’s Guide to History, byDoris Flexner and Stuart Berg Flexner, 2008, Collins),历数我们世界的灾难事件:第一件是140亿年前的宇宙大爆炸,第二件是6500万年前的恐龙灭绝……
All is not necessarily gloom and doom. In the not-too-distant future,we will be living in space stations on a permanent basis and vacationing on themoon. And because our brains also harbor genius, we will discover new ways tocreate energy and to help feed the world……If we can turn our swords intoplowshares, there is no end to what can be accomplished.
