The Mill on the Floss知道的(知道书名,没读过书),它与撒旦连在一起,却是在最近——在Dawkins的一本新书里,谈水磨的能量,顺便说起了Dark Satanic Mills,与工业革命有关——我先想到的是马克思:“一旦人不再用工具作用于劳动对象,而只是作为动力作用于工具机,人的肌肉充当动力的现象就成为偶然的了,人就可以被风、水、蒸汽等等代替了。”
AND did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?
And did the Countenance Divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among these dark Satanic mills?
Bring me my bow of burning gold:
Bring me my arrows of desire:
Bring me my spear: O clouds unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire.
I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land.
