Richard  Kräusel (1890--1966)是德国著名古植物学家。自1920年起，他开始在法兰克福自然历史博物馆兼职从事植物化石的采集、馆藏和研究。Richard  Kräusel为振兴该馆的古植物学研究做出了重大贡献。他的研究兴趣非常广泛，涉猎各种化石研究材料（包括大化石和孢粉化石）。Richard  Kräusel发表了200多篇论著，在国际古植物学界享有很高学术声誉。1954年当选美国植物学会通讯会员；1957年当选为德国科学院院士。Richard  Kräusel培养了多名古植物学人才，如：Hans-Joachim Schweitzer (1928--2007)。 1964年，美国古植物学家David L. Dilcher (1936--)在法兰克福自然历史博物馆跟随Richard  Kräusel从事博士后研究。

--1890: Born in Breslau, Germany (now Wroclaw, Poland)[出生地原属德国的Breslau，今属波兰Wroclaw市]

--1913：Completed PhD dissertation at the University of Breslau regarding the wood from Silesian lignite, entitled “Beiträge zur kenntnis der Holzer aus der schlesischen Braunkohle; ” Advisor: Professor Ferdinand Albin Pax (1858--1942), German botanist and entomologist. [1913年在Breslau大学完成博士学位论文，主要研究了松柏类的木化石]

--1920：Began teaching biology, geography, physics and mathematics career at Goethe Gymnasium; and got the venia legendi for paleobotany at the Goethe University of Frankfurt; In the winter of 1920 Krausel also began his long association of over 45 years with the Senckenberg Museum in Frankfurt (Main) which belongs to the Senckenbergische Naturforschende Geselschaft (SNG).[1920年开始在法兰克福大学任教，同时在法兰克福森肯堡自然历史博物馆兼职从事化石植物研究]

--1925: Started teaching at the Geological-Palaeontological Institute of the Johann Wolfgang von Goethe-University (today“Goethe-University”) in 1925.

--1938: Served as honorary head of the Palaeobotanical Collections of Senckenberg Museum in Frankfurt (Main);

--1941: Became the head of the newly instituted Palaeobotanical Department of Senckenberg Museum in Frankfurt (Main);

--1946: Became the director of Botanical-Palaeobotanical Department;

--1952: got retired from Goethe Gymnasium and Goethe University of Frankfurt, but continued to work in Senckenberg Museum in Frankfurt (Main);

--1953-1954: Visited south and southwest Africa to collect fossil and living plants;

--1954: Elected corresponding member of the Botanical Society of America（1954年当选美国植物学会通讯会员）;

--1956—1957: Travelled to Brazil where he both lectured at various institutes and collected fossil and living plants;

--1957: Elected member of the Deutsche Akademie der Naturforscher "Leopoldina"（1957年当选为德国科学院院士）;

--1959: Became an Honorary Member of the International Organization of Paleobotany（1963年成为国际古植物学协会荣誉会员）;

--1960—1961: Visited the Birbal Sahni Institute in Lucknow, India;

--1963: Visited south and southwest Africa again;

--1964: Visited India again;

--1966: Richard  Kräusel died inFrankfurt. His position in Senckenberg Museum in Frankfurt (Main) was taken over and continued by his former Ph. D. Student Friedemann ......
