美国古植物学家Theodore Delevoryas（1929--）是一位名副其实的名师，培养了许多古植物学博士，包括Charles Philip Daghlian。1977年，Charles P. Daghlian毕业于The University of Texas at Austin植物生物系，获得博士学位。他的博士学位论文工作主要研究了北美东南部世新始地层中的棕榈化石。

   Charles P. Daghlian博士毕业后曾供职于Ohio State University 植物系（Dept. of Botany, Ohio State University, Columbus）、UConn.生物科学研究组（Biological Sciences Group, Univ. of Connecticut, Storrs）和University of Oklahoma 植物和微生物系(Dept. of Botany and Microbiology, University of Oklahoma,Norman) 。现供职于Dartmouth College (Hanover NH)电镜室（Rippel Electron Microscope Facility）。
