美国孢粉学家和古生态学家Ralph E. Taggart 于1971年毕业于密歇根州立大学植物学和植物病理系（Michigan State University，East Lansing）获得博士学位，导师为Aureal Theophilus Cross教授 (1916--2013)。Ralph E. Taggart的博士论文对产自俄勒冈州(Oregon)和爱达荷州(Idaho)交界处的一个中新世植物群（Miocene Sucker Creek flora）开展了孢粉学和古生态学研究。

   自1971年起，Ralph E.Taggart供职于密歇根州立大学地球科学系和植物生物系，已有44年。2015年退休。
