美国北卡罗来纳州立大学（North Carolina State University，Raleigh, N.C.）退休教授Elisabeth Anne Wheeler是研究新生代木化石的著名专家，1972年毕业于南伊利诺斯大学植物系（Southern Illinois University，Carbondale, IL）获博士学位。E. A. Wheeler曾在哈佛大学植物解剖与形态学实验室（Bailey-Wetmore Laboratory of Plant Anatomy & Morphology, Harvard University）接受专业训练和开展研究工作。

   1976年，E. A. Wheeler入职North Carolina State University木材及造纸科学系，2001年退休，但继续她的木化石研究。
