   1848年，有3名瑞士科学家一道从欧洲来到美国，他们是： Arnold Henry Guyot（1807--1884），Louis Agassiz (1807--1873)和CharlesLéo Lesquereux (1806—1889)，前两位是地质学家，而Léo Lesquereux是植物学家。

   20世纪著名古植物学家Erling Dorf（1905--1984）曾供职普林斯顿大学46年。1928年，Erling Dorf开始在普林斯顿大学地质系任教。但他于1930年在芝加哥大学地质系获得博士学位，其博士论文导师为研究煤核（coal ball）的传奇古植物学家Adolph Carl Noé（1873--1939）。Erling Dorf的博士论文信息如下：

   Erling Dorf采集了泥盆纪和新生代植物化石，但他主要研究新生代地层及古植物学。研究成果很多，代表性工作，如：黄石公园的化石森林。

   Erling Dorf服务普林斯顿大学46年，他的学生很多。1933年，William Thomas Pecora(1913--1972)毕业于普林斯顿大学，获地质学学士学位，后到哈佛大学学习。1965--1971年，William Thomas Pecora担任美国联邦地质调查局局长（Director of the USGS）。

   美国古植物学家Leo Hickey (1940--2013)于1967年在普林斯顿大学获得博士学位，其基本信息如下：
