Summer 2014 topics about the demoralizing palaeobotany of China
[A beautiful waterlily. Photo credit: courtesy of Dr. Qingyuan Zhou.]
It is no wonder that there is arbitrarily an unrealistic and impossible stampede for young students to study palaeobotany. Some Chinese palaeobotanists and graduate students seem to have been demoralized precisely because of the intractable dilemmas and prevalent tragedies in Chinese palaeobotanical community. We are often confused about the absence of innovativeness and excellence, which is not uncommon in China.
Topics:
1. Grassroots culture and Chinese palaeobotany--a paradox;
2. Chinese research university or college and palaeobotany--a case study;
3. Mass media and Chinese palaeobotany;
4. Uncompromising integrity and Chinese palaeobotany.
