∮1德国地质学家Johann Jakob Nöggerath (1788--1877)

     19世纪德国地质学家、矿物学家和地震学家Johann Jakob Nöggerath (1788--1877)于1788年出生于波恩。虽然Johann Jakob Nöggerath曾受矿物学家Karl Wilhelm Nose (1753--1835)等人的影响，但他主要靠自学走上学术之路。

    1818年，Johann Jakob Nöggerath开始在波恩大学担任矿物学/地质学教职。后来，他担任过该大学自然历史博物馆馆长，还担任过大学校长。

     Johann Jakob Nöggerath著述很多（包括大量科普作品）。1819年出版的“über aufrecht im Gebirgsgestein eingeschlossene fossile Baumstämme und andere Vegetabilien”是Johann Jakob Nöggerath的代表作之一，也是19世纪早期德国古植物学的经典文献之一，主要研究了晚古生代的植物化石。

      Johann Jakob Nöggerath于1819年当选为德国科学院院士(German Academy of Sciences--Leopolina)。1877年病逝于波恩，享年89岁。

--Studied at the école centrale in Köln; then self-taught and influenced by some people such as Köln art collector Wilhelm Carl Adolf von Hüpsch (1730--1805), German mineralogist Karl Wilhelm Nose (1753--1835) [N.B. Karl Wilhelm Nose was elected to the Leopoldina in1880];

--1814—1815:  Became a commissioner of mines for some of the Rhine provinces;

--1818: Received a doctorate from the University of Marburg;

--1818:  Appointed as an associate professor of mineralogy at the University of Bonn;

--1819:  Published palaeobotanical studies--

--1819: Elected to the German Academy of Sciences—Leopoldina;

--1821: Became a full professor of geology at the University of Bonn;

--1824—1860: Often wrote for Gazette de Cologne;

--1877: Died in Bonn at age of 89.
