Innovation, Invention & improvement
How to define Innovation in education and research?
Innovation, according to wikipedia, is the application of better solutions that meet new requirements, inarticulate needs, or existing market needs.
This is accomplished through more effective products, processes, services, technologies, or ideas that are readily available to markets, governments and society.
Sometimes innovation therefore can be defined as something original and, as consequence,
new that "breaks in to" the market or into society, as wikipedia says.
Innovation differs from invention
Innovation emphasizes the practical use of a better and, as a result, novel idea or method when it is transformed into useful products, processes etc,
while Invention refers directly to the birth or the creation of a new idea or a new method.
Innovation should also differ from improvment in many ways,
innovation means do something differently wheras improvment means to make the same thing better.
Innovation &Transformation
What's transformation then?
Transformation means to change the look, the form or the structure, by doing something like conversion of some forms into different forms...this somehow looks like a physical change, not a chemical reaction.
So, when we talk about " transformation" of science and eduction, we often refer to that we change its rules, regulations or operations while we will keep the science or education functions or properties unchanged.
