Today, I bought a water-proof coat and a pair of trousers, I wish tomorrowthe wind will not very heavy so that I can go SPRU with my bicycle.

I registered at the University at the second day after I arrived inEngland. I was taken a photo and then I was issued an ID card and an accesscard and key to an office for visiting fellows.

Then it was Christmas and New Year’s holiday, I then had a good rest andenough time to adapt myself to the new environment. I bought a bicycle, andtried a little bit to cycle according to the rules of England. I had alreadyknown by which road I can get to the University.

Seems I am prepared to work in SPRU, but am I ready for working in SPRU?

A few days ago, a friend wrote to me:

I found you (with picture) on SPRU's website. Congratulations: you are among a large number of important scientists. Make sure that you can stay in their (virtual) company. Many (probably even most) of them are much better scientists than I, so you can learn a lot. Take any opportunity to learn.

I knew SPRU was the leading institute for innovative studiesand scientific policy. I knew all the stuff here are famous scientists. but Idon’t know how famous they are and I don’t know what they have done for oursociety. Just now I heard of a story of its stuff. He died four years ago buthis work is going on by a fund which is supported by some producers! What’s ahonor it is for a scientist!

I am now among these scientists, but I don’t know if Ican catch up with them, one year later, can I deserve the reputation of this institute?

The road is not ready yet. Even if I can find a roadto the University, even I prepare myself for all the weather, the road for meto catch up with those scientists who made a great achievement cannot be easilypaved.

Anyway, I have to go no matter how tough the road is becauseit is a working day tomorrow.
