Yiling Chen is now the John L. Loeb Professor of NaturalSciences and Professor of ComputerScience at Harvard’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS). She is a member of the Economics, Computer Science and AI research groups, and a faculty affiliate of the Center for Research onComputation and Society (CRCS).
Prior to Harvard, she spent about two years at the Microeconomicsand Social Systems group of Yahoo! Research in New York City, and obtained her Ph.D. from the College of Information Sciences and Technology at The Pennsylvania State University , and M.S. at Tsinghua University in Beijing China. She is a recipient of an NSF CAREER Award andwas recognized by IEEE Intelligent Systems as one of AI’s 10 to Watch in 2011.
To the best of my knowledge, she was the first Chinese American woman appointed to tenure at SEAS from within after my own tenure in 1965. Congratulations! Perhaps in another 40 years later she will follow me back toTsinghua, her Alma Mata.
