Next to retirement saving, paying for children’s college is the second most important financial goal for middle class Americans. Starting more than 40+ years ago when I first borrowed for the college expenses of my three children to date when I am 19 years into my retirement, I just made the final payment on the college loan today. This is something worth celebrating as one of the passages of life. You can say our family is finally “out of debt”.
