For new readers and those who request to be “好友 good friends” please read my 公告栏 first
(something I wrote about 10 days earlier but forgot to post.)
To people outside of the US, Congressman Elijah Cummings is a name seldom heard and unfamiliar. But like Senator John McCain he is a giant of the US congress. Born as the son of a poor worker on a southern farm, he rose to serve in the congress for 25 years, and at his death last week became the first African-American to lie in state in the US capital. At his memorial service yesterday, dignitaries include former presidents Obama and Clinton were both in attendance. This brought to my mind the same for Senator McCain about whom I wrote earlier.

Both former Presidents as well as Secretary Hillary Clinton all spoke eloquently and movingly. Conspicuously but fittingly, President Trump was not present or asked to speak at both the McCain and the Cummings. Watching the ceremony once again you feel proud to be an American. In this case, the congressman’s life of 68 years (1951-2019) exactly parallel my own life experiences in America.
