I remember first watching the rerun of this movie with my wife in late 50s and enjoyed it as a very good comedic love story. The movie received five Oscar nominations but only won one Oscar for best dress design. Over the years, the movie was re-made, both in the US and abroad. But none surpassed the original Hepburn-Bogart-Holden combination. I watch the movie again the other night 65 years later and enjoyed it immensely. It is somethings must be aged or viewed in retrospect via experience. Many of the clever dialogs in the movie have become “Clichés” with the passage of time and the theme song is now an all time classic.
Another example of much more importance but in the same vein of “age enhances value” is Lincoln’s Gettysburg address http://blog.sciencenet.cn/blog-1565-742077.html
This is perhaps why historians do not write about events less than 25 year old.
