The Danger of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
With the headlong rush to be world leader in AI by the Chinese scientific establishment and the government, here is a recent article warning about the danger of AI by (not directed at China ) by none other than Henry Kissinger.
The original appeared in the Journal Atlantic,
The article is a philosophical, humanistic, and carefully thoughtful critique about leaving AI entirely to the scientists. It is not a SciFi doomsday prediction about computers controlling the future of and possible elimination of mankind. Basically it points out the difference of being able to use AI to teach computers playing championship chess or GO and that of resolving human problems nuanced with emotion, value, and complexity. For example a soon-to-be faced issue with self-driving cars could be this: If the car cannot avoid hitting a grandmother or a child, how is it going to choose?
Well worth reading by the public.

I have not check the translation and thus cannot vouch for its faithfulness. But I trust the general view should be OK.
