Britain may have lost her empire. But her monarchy has lasted over thousand years. If there is one thing she does well, it is the “pomp and circumstances” associated with her royal affairs. Today the British Prince Harry (sixth in line of succession) is marrying the American actress Meghan Markle. For Americans who hunger for royalties and celebrities, this is a huge event made in heaven. All the major TV networks and cable channels sent their best anchor/news persons to London and Windsor decked out in finest clothes and hats to report on the event nonstop since early morning. The event received additional publicity since the bride is partly African-American and Hollywood. The crowd along the parade route and inside the church were very impressive. Minimized are the facts that the bride is actually older than the groom and a divorcee. But she looked radiant and beautiful in an elegant bridal dress. All in all over 7 hours of entertaining viewing.

(Note 1. To be technically correct she should be labelled as the first American English Princess since Grace Kelley was the Princess of Monaco and if it weren't for the fact that King Edward abdicated to marry Wallis Simpson she would be the first American princess.) 

(Note 2 My wife also reminded me that there was the American princess Hope who married the King Sikkim in the 70s(?))
