Thank you for accepting our invitation to become a reviewer for
Mathematical Reviews.
On behalf of the Mathematical Reviews Editorial Committee and
the Editors, it is a pleasure to welcome you to our panel of
reviewers.
A system of AMS Points is used to show our appreciation for the expert
services you have volunteered as a reviewer. For each signed review that
you return, your AMS Points account will be credited with 8 points, which
will appear on your next AMS Points Statement. The Points are awarded at
regular intervals during the year and are valid until December 31 two
years from the year in which they are issued. They can be utilized in the
following ways by the reviewer named in the AMS Points Statement.
Each AMS Point can be redeemed for $1 discount on
. the reviewer's own AMS book or journal orders;
. the reviewer's annual AMS membership dues for any category of
membership for which the reviewer is eligible; AT MOST 16 points may be
used for the reviewer's dues in any one year;
. the Sponsored membership (Category S) dues of another individual
eligible for this category of membership.
Any reviewer can subscribe to Mathematical Reviews Sections at the
Reviewer rate, which is about two-thirds the list price. For information

it. Two points worthy of reiteration are objectivity and promptness.
Concerning the latter, we are making every effort to try to shorten the
time between the publication of an item and of its review.
We do hope that you will ordinarily be able to return a review of
a normal-length article within six weeks of receiving the item. If
this will not be possible, we suggest that you inform us so that we
can reassign it to another reviewer. If the item is a book, it is
important that you return it to us, as it may be difficult to
obtain a replacement copy.
We may send you two or three items at once, but we do not expect
that you will necessarily return the reviews simultaneously. We
will try to keep from overloading you, but if you see that you have
more items to be reviewed than you can conveniently handle, we urge
you to inform us.
