When it comes to December, students in college become worried.Everybodycries out in alarm:”CET-4 is coming!Oh ,god, please help me!”Then they cram forit just to get a good mark. This issue now cause concern in more quarters thaneducational world. Should cet-4 be
Persisted ,reformed or abolished?
The answer to this questionfor most teachers is retention. Undoubtedly, many students prefer specializedcourses to English. If there is s nocet-4, they will easily lose learning motivation.”Ifind most of them are uninterested in learning English. “Professor Xiang yudepressed her dissatisfaction.(READ AND WRITEPERIODICAL 2008 5 8)It is noexaggeration to say ,to most non- English majors ,cet-4 has become an effectivemeans of supervision. So it is necessary to be retained.
When the students whodislike English, the ones who lack logos and those who attempt to cast a shadowon Chinese educational world collude to overstate the seriousness of theproblem, thewhole public opinion environment has turned against cet-4.They holdno ability. They don’t need to take all blame-or credit-for everything that ourEnglish learning become.Ill-injudged internet chatters are always empty sentences,so despite cet-4 has many insuffienciency, abrogating is impractical.
Ministry of education reformedthe exam in 2005, 2009 and 2013.We are pleased to see, after these reformations, the exam itself has been improved greatly. As professor Wan suggested, cet-4now is more helpful to promote our English communicative ability (EducationScience & Culture Magazine Wan min 2007 7).Overall,cet-4 is developinghealthily and steadily.
Ithink from whatever perspective, the reformation ofcet-4 will become a model for our flawed exam-oriented education. Compared withradicalness, deliberate revolution is more needed indeed
