[历史，建筑，文化] 卡拉卡拉浴场 Baths of Caracalla, Terme di Caracalla

   卡拉卡拉浴场（Baths of Caracalla, Terme di Caracalla），位于意大利的罗马。公元 216年建成，是罗马最美丽、最豪华的浴场之一，设计可容纳约1600名沐浴者。该浴场是一大片红砖建筑（a vast compound of red-brick buildings），一直使用到公元6世纪被哥特人摧毁（Used until they were destroyed by the Goths in the 6th century AD ）。

   300多年来，这些浴池一直被频繁使用，但在哥特人袭击城市期间，为该建筑群供水的渡槽严重受损，浴室失去了功能。（The baths were used frequently for over 300 years, but lost their function when the aqueducts supplying the complex with water were seriously damaged by the Goths during an attack on the city. ）

   公元212年至216年，卡拉卡拉皇帝倡议建造了这些建筑，并为其命名。这些建筑一直运营到537年，超过三百年。（Constructions began on the initiative of Emperor Caracalla, who gave them their name, between 212 and 216 AD. They were in operation until 537, well over three decades.）

   卡拉卡拉浴场占地接近20万平方米，设计可容浴者1600人。建筑由砖面混凝土结构建造，有着厚实的墙壁和巨大的穹顶，总高度达43米。它的主体建筑为长方形，长220米，宽114米，沿中轴线对称，按照罗马人的沐浴习惯，冷水浴室、温水浴室和高温浴室依次排列在这条中轴线上，其中高温浴室是一个巨大的圆形房间，现在已变成一个露天的意大利歌剧场，可以容纳好几百名观众。

   自公元3世纪初开始，去公共浴场洗浴成为罗马人生活中的传统。公共浴场除了洗浴之外，还有其他功用，如社交场所、交易场所等。卡拉卡拉浴场是所有罗马浴场中规模最大、装饰最奢华的，一直使用到6世纪。

   卡拉卡拉浴场（Thermae of Caracalla，或Baths of Caracalla）位于罗马，是古罗马的公共浴场，建于公元211年到217年，卡拉卡拉统治罗马帝国期间。其遗址如今为一个旅游圣地。浴场占地16万平方米，除3万平方米的浴场外，还有图书馆、竞技场、散步道、健身房等各种设施，丝毫不亚于现代的大型休闲中心。浴场内分为冷水、温水、热水浴室和蒸汽室及更衣室，从残存的马赛克镶拼地板、直径30米的浴池、高达30米的墙壁，可以想象当时规模宏大、贵客云集的场面。
