Dear Grace,

I am so happy to hear from you.  I miss you all too.  I'm so glad that you

had a great time in Wang bo bo's home.

Yesterday we took the speed train and arrived another city Jinan at
about noon.  For more than 300 kilometres, it took only one and a half
hours.  If we drive, it may take at least three hours. If considering
traffic, in the old days, it would take a whole day to get here.  But
we did it in 90 minutes.  Isn't it cool?

On the train we met another professor from Queen's University at
Kingston, Ontario.  He's a smart guy.  Very sharp and shrewd.  He is
helping a number of Chinese Universities.  So he is a good guy too.

Since yesterday was Sunday, we did not have any meeting.  Five of us,
including the Queen's professor, did some sight seeing.  The city
Jinan is famous of its spring wells. Unfortunately because of the past
many years of blind economic development, many lakes and springs are
contaminated.  We are coming to help them address the water crisis.
But can you imagine five big boys wandering along a big lake for two
hours?  It's an interesting experience.

Jinan is a very beautiful city.  It's surrounded by small mountains
and waters.  People are very polite.

I had some trouble sleeping too.  But it was mainly because of the jet
lag.  However, yesterday two hours walking helped.  I had 7 hours
straight sleep.  Now I am feeling very vigorous.

The only thing I don't like the hotel is the internet speed.  It's a
slow poke.  It took me several attempts to finally read your message.
So if you don't receive my emails in the next few days, it's mainly
because of the internet problem.
