论文摘要:In article number 1700841, Zhenpeng Qin and co-workers develop a novel method to create highly specific therapies by inactivating dysfunctional protein molecules. The approach inactivates protein molecules of interest by using short laser pulses and nanoparticles. This is achieved by nanosecond plasmonic heating of gold nanoparticles which creates an ultrahigh and ultrashort temperature increase, leading to selective inactivation and unfolding of proteins adjacent to the nanoparticle.

论文摘要:Highly reproducible on-chip single-molecule Raman detection is achieved by developing a two-step photoreduction approach to incorporate surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) materials with microfluidics, as reported by Zhipeng Li and co-workers in article number 1702893. The detection limit for various types of molecules can be as low as 10−13 m with reproducibility of about 50%. This work may lead to substantial advances in single-molecule spectroscopy and quantitative SERS detection.

论文摘要:In the article number 1702324, Qingfa Wang, Yadong Yin, and co-workers describe a self-templating method for fabricating CoO-MoO2 nanocages with porous shells, which enable fast mass transport and enhanced electric conductivity, both benefiting their catalytic efficiency in the oxygen evolution reaction. The image illustrates the generation of molecular oxygen upon the catalytic decomposition of water molecules on the surface of nanocages.

论文摘要:A highly stretchable, resistive strain sensor composed of a bi-sheath structure is described by Jianning Ding, Linqi Shi, Zunfeng Liu, and co-workers in article number 1702134. Buckles of a carbon nanotube sheath contact with one another under compression of an underlying buckled elastomer sheath, which is co-axially coated on a rubber fiber. Stretching separates the buckles, resulting in linear increase of resistance with strain.
