报告提要：    

SocialWeb not only provides user generated contents for people to use, but alsofundamentally changed information access in people’s mind and on the Web.Consumers of information can at the same time be the participants of informationproduction, organization, retrieval and utilization. It is under thisinnovative infrastructure that social information access thrives and becomesone of the most actively developed topic in both academia and industry. In thistalk, I will using four research projects conducted in my research lab as the examplesto illustrate some interesting recent developments on this topic. My goal is tointroduce social information access, to discuss some of its findings, and toelicit potential collaborations on this topic.

报告人简介：

Dr.Daqing He is an associate professor at the School of Information Sciences(iSchool), and associate professor at the Intelligent Systems Program, both ofwhich are at the University of Pittsburgh. He earned his PhD degree in ArtificialIntelligence from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Prior joining theUniversity of Pittsburgh in 2004, he served on the research faculties of theRobert Gordon University, Scotland and the University of Maryland at CollegePark, United States. His work centered on adaptive and interactive monolingual/multilingualinformation retrieval. Currently, Dr. He’s main research interests coverinformation retrieval (monolingual and multilingual), information access on thesocial web, adaptive Web systems and user modeling, interactive retrievalinterface design, and Web log mining and analysis. Dr. He is the PrincipalInvestigator (PI) and Co-PI for more than ten research projects, funded by theNational Science Foundation (NSF), United States Defense Advanced Research ProjectsAgency (DARPA), University of Pittsburgh, and other agencies. He has publishedmore than 100 articles in internationally-recognized journals and conferencesin these areas. Dr. He has served as a member on the program committees formore than 15 major international conferences in the area of informationretrieval and web technologies, and has been called upon to be a reviewer formany top-ranked international journals in the same areas. Dr. He is also thechair of the SIS council, the faculty governing body for the iSchool.
