昨天朋友夫妻两人带着他们儿子来家里玩。因为我女儿的缘故，谈话之间难免不涉及孩子的性别差异问题。大概是我过于敏感，总能够从言辞间察觉出他们关于男女差异的传统观念。结合我对女儿的观察（她喜欢运动，特别喜欢冒险；不喜欢诸如洋娃娃等静态成型的玩具，喜欢那些通过自己组合创造的玩具，比如拼图和积木），以及他们潜在的性别观念，我更坚信在科学领域或其它社会地位高的职业领域中男女差异是社会化的结果，而生物性差异，就算存在，也不足以作为根本性原因。

今天在一本专业书籍内读到以下内容，觉得非常荒谬：

On average, men score higher than women in an assembly task in which people are asked to put together a three-dimensional mechanical apparatus. Boys are also better at constructing block buildings from two-dimensional blueprints, and they show more interest than girls in playing with LEGO bricks, which can be combined and recombined into an infinite number of systems. Boys as young as three years of age are also faster at copying 3-D models of outsized LEGO pieces. Older boys, from the age of nine years, are better than girls at imagining what a 3-D object will look like if it is laid out flat, and at constructing a 3-D structure from just an aerial and frontal view in a picture.

即使这些观察值是事实，它们也应该被理解为一种过程的结果，而不是原因。我自身的经验也能说明一些问题。我曾经接受过绘画的训练，所以在大学上机械制图课时，我常常是班上花费功夫很少成绩却还不错的。很多时候，结果的差异只代表机会的差异，而不是能力的差异。
