Professor Mahbubani of Singapore, noted scholar of international diplomacy and the ambassador to the UN for Singapore for ten years, recently gave a lecture to a prestigious Hongkong audience on the subject of the title of this blog. In my years as an academic, speaker, blogger, and attendance of lectures, I have never said this before: This was a superb talk with a great Q&A period, a stimulating intellectual experience with deep insight based on facts and history, something every Chinese will be proud of and every American should listen to. Unfortunately the web link https://youtu.be/vo6gwb9Sr54 is on YouTube which is not available in China. I hope the editorial department of ScienceNet or someone in China can help. The author has nothing but good to say about China which every Chinese government official will be happy to have the article broadcasted. The author was critical of the US foreign policy toward China and lack of intelligent response to Asian affairs. But he offers some good advice which regrettably and probably won’t be followed.
