水煤浆是一种新型煤基流体燃料，是我们国家的高新技术产品和重点环保推广产品。它是由一定比例的煤、水、化学添加剂混合加工而成，具有浓度高、粒度细、流变性好，燃烧效率高，负荷调节范围大，环保节能、安全高效等优点。是目前我国一项现实的洁净煤技术。

对于水煤浆的研究历史，有2种不同的说法，一种认为是20世纪70年代末，世界石油危机以后开发出来的煤炭新产品，是一种可以代替重油和煤的新型洁净燃料；还有一种观点认为，水煤浆是20世纪80年代初出现的一种新型煤基流体燃料，国际上称为CWM（Coal Water Mixture）或CWF（Coal Water Fuel），它含煤约70％，化学添加剂约１％，其余为水。 其实这2种观点都不准确，本人通过检索方向，早在20世纪50年代就有Coal Water Mixture或者Coal Water Slurry(CWS)的研究，如1953年的英国专利——Improvements in and relating to methods of and apparatus for dewatering materials文献中就有与CWM相关的论述：In the dswa/tering of granular sub­stances particularly fine coal it is required to separate a coal-water mixture or slurry with a high water content as quickly and simply as possible into the two original constituents, water and coal... ,无独有偶，美国匹兹堡巩固煤炭公司（Pittsburgh Consolidation Coal Company）的JONES SAM AARON等人，在20世纪50年代就曾申请过多项英国水煤浆的专利，
