My life since 1/25/2020
As reported in my earlier articles, I experienced a non-virus related serious illness from 1/25 to late March/2020

which except for hospital stay and doctor visits kept me at home. This is just as well (in fact probably lucky) since it prevented me from contracting unknowingly the beginning of the virus pandemic currently raging in the US. Since recovery of course we have in the US “shelter in place” order by the state and federal government. Our younger local friends kindly offer to buy groceries and food supply for us http://blog.sciencenet.cn/home.php?mod=space&uid=1565&do=blog&id=1224629 again obviate the need to go out except for once when I was overcome by craving for Chinese Dim Sum snacks. This was ill advised even though food do not transmit the coronavirus.
We diligently wash our hands several time a day, wipe down with sanitizer solution any items, e.g., food bags and newspapers , that come in from outside, railings, door handles, and switches that were touched by cleaning crew and/or delivery person.
Life under quarantine so far have not been difficult for us since we do not have small children at home. Cable TV provide plenty of things to watch. E-mails from friends all over US and from China concerned with our well being kept up our spirits. Being retired we do not have meeting to cancel/attend, classes to teach, and jobs to lose or pay checks to stop. We take a long walk every day when weather is nice. Except for the absence of social engagements, we can survive this way probably indefinitely. Zoom software let our extended family in the US electronically get together (our granddaughter is getting married in California this coming August. We’ll have to decide then whether or not travel is advised).
Once again we thank our friends worldwide who are concerned and inquired about our status. Your messages are most welcomed. With luck and prayer, we will survive this pandemic.
