In my previous blogs http://blog.sciencenet.cn/home.php?mod=space&uid=1565&do=blog&id=1216511 and http://blog.sciencenet.cn/home.php?mod=space&uid=1565&do=blog&id=1216067 I reported my painful medical experience. Here are what more I learned:
Becuase full scale psoraitic attack while painful are quite rare and not life threatening, there are not enough financial incentives for pharmashutical companies to invest large sum of research money to discover cures.
Most skin inflamation can be releived by prescription cream. But the psoriatic artheritic joint pain are more difficult. Western medicine only offer the immune-suppressice drug with possible deadly side effects. My current dermatologist is against their use despite opinions otherwise from other dermatologists. I have decided that at least for now I'll go along with my current dermatologist's opinion and endure what I can.
My psoriatic flare up is still on going. While my skins are mostly quieted down, swollen and painful hand and feet still makes living difficult. One can only hope that in time these psoriatic-artheritic attacks will die down by itself. In the mean time, you just "grin and bear it ".
Having lived in Lexington for over 54 years, the out pouring of love, support, concern, and gift of food from friends in town are really overwhelming. I don't think we'll ever moved away from Lexington despite the fact that "moving near where your children live" are often considered by our cohort generation.
Today for the first time, I sense a glimmer of signs that this massive flare up is on the mend. I am more stable walking around. Swollen hands and feet have lessened and less painful. Except for blood shot and dropping eyelids, my face is more recognizable. Hope in time I can meet people in person.
Cheers.
