On the cover: Feeding Drosophilaa diet high in sugar leads to metabolic defects, including hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, and insulin resistance. In this issue, Hirabayashi et al. (pp. 664–675) now show that high dietary sugar converts Ras/Src-transformed tissue from localized growths to aggressive tumors with emergent metastases. The cover image shows the metastasized Ras/Src cells (GFP, green) developing secondary tumors at tracheal branches (chitin-binding probe, red), a tubular network that transports oxygen in Drosophila. The confocal image was processed with filters in Photoshop CS4 to achieve the stained glass effect (DAPI, blue).
