从一则招聘启事看生物信息研究者应掌握的十种能力

Introduction(招聘原文):
Several full-time postdoctoral positions are immediately available for Ph.D. graduates with experience in Bioinformatics (computational genomics) at the Bioinformatics Core, Cancer Science Institute of Singapore. The focus of the core is on understanding computational genomics from somatic mutations to spicing variants to gene fusion to transcriptome & epigenetic regulation, particularly in the context of cancer.
We are seeking highly motivated Ph.D/M.D graduates with backgrounds in bioinformatics, genomics, computer science, statistics, or other related fields. Those who are interested in computational genomics, particularly in analysis and integration of various genomics data, are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will analyse and integrate genomic (ChIP-seq, RIP-seq, RNA-seq, and microarray) data to identify novel biological patterns and regulatory mechanisms or perform down-stream analysis including motif finding, survival analysis, pathway analysis, and analysis of gene regulatory networks.
Candidates are required to have a strong quantitative and statistics background, as well as strong programming skills (e.g. Perl, R, or other related programming knowledge), good understanding in genomics/biology, and excellent skills in handling genomic databases.
Applications should include full curriculum vitae, publication list, and names and contact information (e-mail and telephone numbers) of 2 references.

第一:外语要好,否则还以为上面是垃圾邮件;
第二:要有学历,只要Ph.D(博士)和M.D(硕士);
第三:兴趣广泛,有各种背景:“backgrounds in bioinformatics, genomics, computer science, statistics, or other related fields”,而且还要了解各种Seq数据;
第四:综合能力,多组学整合:“integrate genomic (ChIP-seq, RIP-seq, RNA-seq, and microarray”;
第五:分析能力,识别分析:"identify novel biological patterns and regulatory mechanisms or perform down-stream analysis";
第六:数学要好,过硬的定量和统计背景:“strong quantitative and statistics background”;
第七:编程能力,过硬的编程能力:“strong programming skills”,语言随意(但至少要知道两种perl和R,现在又流行Python,活到老,学到老);
第八:理解力强,对基因组学和生物学的深入理解:“good understanding in genomics/biology”;
第九:懂数据库,熟练操作各种组学数据库的能力:“excellent skills in handling genomic databases”;
第十:表达能力,最重要的是能够用English等语言恰当并全面地展示以上九种能力。
