最近发现一篇文章的题目中出现了一个不常见的词traverse,这个词在化学冶金材料类的论文中还真不常见,我查一下牛津字典,解释如下:
Traverse: travel, lie or extend across (an area)走过、横贯或穿越(某地区)
词典中并没有列出引申含义。但是我搜了一下scopus,有了新发现。很多不同领域期刊的文章题目都用了这样的结构,即Traversing the …

起初我尝试把Traversing翻译成“纵观,纵览,有关,追溯,回溯,探查”等等,发现有时适用,有时不适用,因为这些文章中研究对象的范围大多数明显是抽象的范围,不限于时间和地域的范围。如果索性不翻译,也不影响题目意思的表达。所以我觉得这个词大致相当于介词On,但是比之更有空间感。
