Till von Graberg博士,毕业于University of Marburg,并于Potsdam-Golm 的Max Planck胶体界面研究所完成联合学位研究。在University of Gießen获得化学博士学位后,于2012年加入Wiley,并于2017年开始担任Advanced Energy Materials主编。


Advanced Energy Materials 创刊于2011年,是能源材料领域的顶级期刊之一。Advanced Energy Materials 2018影响因子为24.884。以下是对主编Till von Graberg博士的访谈记录:

Energy research continues to be a booming discipline. Recently, we’ve introduced the Excellence in Energy series (http://bit.ly/EE-series  ) consisting of freely accessible invited Reviews and Progress Reports provided by many of our best authors. These articles are intended to introduce the most relevant topics and highlight open questions in energy research, and they are receiving significant attention and usage. They also provide a good resource as starting point for scientists entering the field from a different background. In the future we will explore similar ideas. Also, in 2020, Advanced Energy Materials will publish its 10th volume, so that’s a great reason to celebrate!



2.Advanced期刊家族中拥有很多顶尖期刊,能源领域也有许多优秀的期刊,您怎么看待Advanced Energy Materials在其中的地位?

Till von Graberg博士Advanced Energy Materials创办于早期学界正好缺少一份与能源相关的专业期刊的时候,那会儿的时机非常好。而当下竞争确实很大,而且越来越激烈。我们期刊拥有庞大的国际读者群和作者群,这帮助我们逐渐成为该领域的代表刊物。成功的另一部分原因也在于我们与Advanced Materials的紧密关系。作者们和读者们也都喜欢我们期刊的质量和提供的服务。


Advanced Energy Materials started at the right time when the community was lacking a dedicated journal for energy-related materials research. Now, the competition is huge and still growing but our great international reader and author base has helped us to develop this journal to a leader in the field. Another part of the success story is the close relationship to Advanced Materials of course. Authors and readers like the quality and service they can expect from our journals.



对能源材料领域未来热点的预测


1.Advanced Energy Materials 中国发稿量持续增长,您如何看待中国能源材料领域的潜力?您还看好来自中国哪些方向的研究?

Till von Graberg博士:发表自中国作者的研究阅读量和引用都是最高的,说明了能源材料这个主题在中国相当重要。我认为,在能源转换和储存技术方面开发可替代、清洁和真正可持续的材料,尤其是在中国,仍有巨大的潜力。这也一定是未来前进的方向。


The research we publish from Chinese authors is among to the most read and most cited content, underlining the fundamental importance of the topic in China. I think there is still huge potential, especially in China, for developing alternative, clean, and truly sustainable materials for energy conversion and storage technologies. That must be the way forward.



2.您如何看待能源材料研究在整个材料学领域的发展趋势?哪些方向的研究尚存在发展空间?

Till von Graberg博士:材料科学是从传统能源向替代技术过渡的关键推动因素。整个科研群体非常有活力,为跨学科研究提供了巨大的潜能。我们很高兴Advanced Energy Materials推动了研究人员、工程师与行业专业人士之间的对话。我非常希望未来我们发表的研究可以关注更多一般性问题,如能源可持续性,并能进一步探讨如冷却能源材料等主题。


Materials science is a key enabler for the transition from traditional energy sources to alternative technologies. The community is very dynamic and offers tremendous potential for interdisciplinary research. We are excited that Advanced Energy Materials drives the conversation between researchers, engineers, and industry professionals in this regard. I very much hope that the future research we publish will also address more general questions like energy sustainability and claim further ground on topics like energy materials for cooling.



对于目前科研界一些现象的看法


1.您认为理想的科研评价体系是怎样的?最近网络上有一些针对ESI评价的讨论,您怎么看?

Till von Graberg博士:人们喜欢模式化,用数字去查看或是把数字放到相关分类中整体去看相对更容易。但是,每个科研人员都是独立的个体,应当被独立评估。影响因子24.884并不会告诉大家为什么研究光伏发电很重要。论文、引用量和学术成就可以提供一些和研究人员有关的信息,但这并不代表全部的信息。所以我认为,理想的科研评价体系应当分配足够的时间和资源以深入了解所有必需的信息,并评估每个相关的指标。


Humans like patterns. It’s easier to look at one number and put that number in a box with similar numbers. But every researcher is an individual and should be evaluated individually. An Impact Factor of 24.884 doesn’t tell you anything about why it is important to carry out research on photovoltaics. The number of papers, citations, and academic achievements can give you bits of information about a researcher but that’s not the whole story. So, the ideal system would allocate enough time and resources to assimilate every bit of required information and evaluate each relevant metric.



2.您如何看待开放获取?学术圈愈演愈烈的的开放获取运动,我们将如何应对?

Till von Graberg博士:很高兴看到我们的一系列期刊对开放获取有越来越多的关注,但值得注意的是,研究人员仍然非常注重一些其它的因素,例如期刊的声誉,读者群以及其它服务。Advanced Energy Materials的作者可以选择免费发布他们的文章(之后所有期刊订阅者都可以访问),或者付费以使文章免费向公众开放。我们对这种混合模式有很好的经验,因为它很灵活并且可以满足大多数作者的需求,为作者提供满意的服务是我们的首要任务。另外,我们也在不断探索新的方法可以使大众更易获取已发表的研究成果,对此,Wiley也走在了前列,例如最近与德国Projekt DEAL开展的开放获取合作(相关阅读:Wiley与Projekt DEAL正式签约,合作推动和增强德国未来学术研究与出版 )以及在其它国家的类似合作。


Although we see rising interest in Open Access across our journals, it is important to note that researchers still care a lot about other factors, such as the reputation of a journal, its readership, or additional services. Authors in Advanced Energy Materialscan choose whether to publish their articles for free (which are then accessible to all journal subscribers) or whether to pay a fee to make the article freely available to the public. We’ve had good experiences with this hybrid model because it provides the flexibility to accommodate the needs of most authors, which is our priority. However, we are constantly exploring new ways of making research results more easily accessible, and Wiley has a forward-thinking approach on this, as exemplified by the recently launched Open Access collaboration with Projekt DEAL in Germany and similar deals in other countries.



3.您如何看待科学研究与传播的关系?

Till von Graberg博士:我认为找到有效地向广大受众传达重要科学成果的方法仍值得进一步探索,而且空间很大。这在日益“开放获取”的世界中尤为重要。开放获取的一个动机是公众可以在研究出版后立刻免费获取研究结果。然而,几乎每篇论文都是为具有专业科学背景的读者撰写的。因此,若要改进,有很多科学细节以及论文相对较少提及的研究背景值得关注。


I think there is still great potential in finding ways to efficiently communicate significant scientific results to a broad audience. This is especially important in an increasingly “Open Access” world. One motivation for Open Access is that the public can access scientific results immediately after publication at no cost. However, almost every paper is written for a readership with a specialized scientific background. So, there is a lot of scientific detail but relatively little general background and context, leaving a lot of room for improvement.
