学名：Rhododendron microcarpum R.L.Liu & L.M.Gao in Liu et al. (2018: 271).

模式信息：Type: Jiangxi: Yingpan Mountain, northern side of Nanling Mountains, Ganzhou, elevation 1100–1600 m, 6 July 2017 (flower), R.L. Liu L-003 (holotype L-003, KUN; isotype GNU).

模式标本采自江西赣州鹰盘山，主模式存昆明植物所标本馆，同号模式存赣州师范学院（GNU，代码还没在Index Herbariorum注册）。

命名人刘仁林（赣州师范学院；与1993年云南植物研究15（2）：190应为同一作者，那篇文章拼音写为Liu Ren-Ling）和高连明（昆明植物所）。

特征集要与马银花（Rhododendron ovatum (Lindl.) Planch. ex Maxim.）比较。
