Dr. Ke Du from University of Calgary is seeking for a motivated Ph.D. student in the area of air quality science and engineering for Fall 2018 enrollment. The successful candidate will be nominated to receive the prestigious “Eyes High” scholarship (http://grad.ucalgary.ca/faculty/eyeshigh). To be eligible for this award, you must (1) have MSc degree in related fields described below; (2) have a GPA of 3.5 or better; and (3) have a TOEFL > 86 (with no section lower than 20) or IELTS> 6.5 (with no section lower than 6.0) if your native language is not English.

The student will be expected to conduct research in one of the following areas: 1) Development of method/technology/instrument to monitor airborne pollutants and investigate their pollution characteristics, transportation, and impact on ambient air quality; 2) Carbonaceous aerosols, in particular black carbon (field sampling, instrumental analysis, source apportionment, radiative forcing effects); 3) Modeling the environmental and climate impact of anthropogenic air pollutants. The ideal candidate should hold a MS degree in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Environmental Engineering, or other related fields; and also have experience on aerosol sampling and chemical analysis, optical properties of aerosols, source apportionment techniques, optical remote sensing techniques, air quality modeling, or climate modeling.
