Description
Reporting functionally to the Editorial Director, Natural Sciences (Europe & RoW) and locally to the Director, Research Communications and Professional Practices, Greater China, you are responsible for the commissioning of book and reference content to agreed targets and in line with the global publishing strategy, focusing on Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Environmental Sciences projects from Asia Pacific, with primary emphasis on China. This includes delivering the agreed signing targets, revenues and publishing activities for the program; managing the books pipeline and backlist; providing market intelligence and analysis for input and implementation of global strategic plans.
Job Requirements
You should possess a PhD in the subject area or a Masters with at least 2 years in editorial role or 5 years of relevant work experience. Good understanding of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Environmental Sciences is essential. You should be able to interact effectively with key stakeholders (e.g. authors, scientists, partners, and internal colleagues). You possess excellent spoken and written communication skills in English and native-level proficiency in Chinese is required. You are a self-starter with strong web research skills. Travelling within China and internationally is required from time to time.

Description
The Materials Science and Physics group of Wiley is offering a Trainee position based in our Beijing office for the internationally renowned, high-impact journals Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, Small, pss a, and pss b. You will gain on-the-job experience in many different aspects of publishing, such as the acquisition and development of journal content (both print and online), peer-review procedures, and contact with authors and referees from all over the world.
Job Requirements
Applicants for these positions require a relevant PhD in physics / materials science / chemistry / surface science, and should be self-motivated, have excellent organizational and communication skills (written and verbal), be diplomatic, flexible, and familiar with text and graphics computer applications. The applicants must be fluent in Chinese and have an excellent command of the English language. International postdoctoral experience and/or previous publishing experience would be advantageous.
The position will be based in Beijing. The successful candidate will be trained in our Beijing office, but may spend some time at our Wiley-VCH offices in Weinheim and Berlin.
