刚刚收到任东来教授夫人吴耘老师发来悉尼大学Jingdong YUAN博士悼任东来唁函，现在受权发布。

Dearstaff/colleagues of the Nanjing-JHU Center,

It is with shock and great sadness that Ireceived news that Professor REN Donglai has just passed away. Please forwardmy deep condolence to his family.

I first met Donglai in 1987 when I was doingmy MA thesis research on Kissinger. I came to the Center to do research and methim there. Many years later, I visited the Center again, when I was working atthe Monterey Institute of International Studies in California. I have followed his work withgreat interest and have regarded him one of the finest America scholarin his generation. This is a great loss to Nanda, to the Center, and to theUS-China academic communities. He will be missed.

May Professor Ren rest in peace.
