2007年诺贝尔化学奖揭晓
 德国科学家因固体表面化学过程研究独得该奖


 
北京时间10月10日下午5点45分,2007年诺贝尔化学奖揭晓,德国马普弗利兹-哈伯研究所(Fritz-Haber-Institut der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft)化学家Gerhard Ertl因固体表面化学过程研究独得该奖项。

    得知这一消息后,作为一个做催化的感到非常相当地高兴,催化应该引起广泛的注意重视,毕竟目前90%的化学反应都要涉及到催化剂,没有催化剂整个化学/化工过程面临着不可越愈的困难!
    但是目前中国对催化远远不够重视,企业不知道催化专业、国家没有足够的经费支持催化研究(催化研究是个费钱的研究)、催化专业毕业的学生更本找不到工作,唉!!

2007年诺贝尔化学奖表彰的是表面化学的突破性研究。这个领域对化工产业影响巨大,物质接触表面发生的化学反应对工业生产运作至关重要。同时,表面化学 研究有助于我们理解各种不同的过程,比如为何铁会生锈,燃料电池如何发挥作用以及我们汽车中加入的催化剂如何工作。表面化学研究甚至可以解释臭氧层的破 坏。此外,半导体产业的发展与表面化学研究也是息息相关。
 
得利于半导体行业的发展,表面化学从20世纪60年代开始发展起来。Gerhard Ertl是最初觉察到这种新技术潜力的人之一。通过逐步的实验研究,他为表面化学开创了一种新的研究方法,即怎样用不同的实验步骤来描绘出一个完整的表面 反应画面。这种方法需要高真空的实验装备,目的是用来观测单层原子和分子在金属等材料极纯表面上发生的行为。只有这样,才能测定到底哪种元素能够进入系 统,而污染会损害所有的测量。正因如此,成功实验这一方法需要高度的精确性,以及将许多不同的实验技巧结合起来的能力。 
 
Gerhard Ertl创建了一所思维实验学院,专门教授如何通过表面化学研究获得可靠的结果。他的远见卓识为现代表面化学研究奠定了基础。他的方法论不仅仅被应用于学术研究,还包括化学过程相关产业的发展。
 
尤其值得一提的是,Gerhard Ertl开发的人造肥料制造方法不仅仅基于他对哈伯-博施法(Haber-Bosch process,用氢和从空气中提取的氮来直接合成人造肥料中包含的氨)的研究,他同时利用铁的表面作为催化剂。这一成果带来了难以估量的经济效益,因为 通常作物对氮的利用率十分有限。此外,Ertl还研究了一氧化碳在铂表面催化下的氧化反应,现在汽车中利用催化剂实现一氧化碳的清洁排放正是基于该项研究 的成果。
 
Gerhard Ertl简介:德国人。1936年出生于德国的Bad Cannstadt。1965年于德国慕尼黑工业大学获得物理化学博士学位。现为德国马普弗利兹-哈伯研究所的退休教授。

  2005年,法国科学家伊夫•肖万 、美国科学家罗伯特•格拉布和美国科学家里理查德•施罗克。他们在有机化学的烯烃复分解反应研究方面作出了贡献。

  2004年,以色列科学家阿龙•切哈诺沃、阿夫拉姆•赫什科和美国科学家欧文•罗斯。他们发现了泛素调节的蛋白质降解。

  2003年,美国科学家彼得•阿格雷和罗德里克•麦金农。他们因为在细胞膜通道领域作出了“开创性贡献”而获奖。

  2002年,美国科学家约翰•芬恩、日本科学家田中耕一和瑞士科学家库尔特•维特里希。他们发明了对生物大分子进行识别和结构分析的方法。

  2001年,诺贝尔化学奖奖金一半授予美国科学家威廉•诺尔斯与日本科学家野依良治,以表彰他们在“手性催化氢化反应”领域所作出的贡献;另一半授予美国科学家巴里•夏普莱斯,以表彰他在“手性催化氧化反应”领域所取得的成就。

  2000年,美国科学家艾伦•黑格、艾伦•马克迪尔米德以及日本科学家白川英树。他们在导电聚合物领域作出了开创性贡献。
