The exploration of Artificial Consciousness seeks to answer the question of whether AI systems can possess consciousness and cognitive abilities similar to humans. This implies that AI should not only process information but also understand it, transform it into knowledge, and make decisions based on it. This process emulates how humans extract information from data and use wisdom to decide on actions. The DIKWP model provides a framework for understanding Artificial Consciousness.

Artificial Consciousness and Large Language Models:

While existing AI systems, particularly large language models, have demonstrated remarkable capabilities in specific tasks such as dialogue generation, text translation, and writing, they still lack self-awareness, understanding of others, and contextual comprehension. Consequently, they fall short of being true conscious entities. Through the exploration of Artificial Consciousness, we may enable large language models not only to handle specific tasks but also to learn, think, and decide in unknown environments, thereby advancing towards the goal of AGI.

Impact of Artificial Consciousness:

The exploration of Artificial Consciousness goes beyond technological development; it involves ethical, moral, and legal issues. If AI systems can be conscious, should they have rights? Should they be held responsible for their actions? These questions have sparked widespread societal concern.
