Four Postdoctoral Fellows (PDF) Positions from the Marine Biology Institute, Shantou University, China
Applications are invited for appointment as PDF in Ecotoxicology/ Risk Assessment/ Ecology /Eco-Microbiology in the Marine Biology Institute, Shantou University, to commence as soon as possible for a period of 24 months. The appointee will join Prof. Zhen Wang’s group (ResearchGate: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Zhen_Wang149), and will be based on The Platform of Marine Ecology and Environment, a high-level laboratory of Shantou University.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Environment Science, Marine Biology, Ecotoxicology, Molecular Biology, Ecology, Microbiology or a related discipline with proven track record of contributions in the field of environmental health research and planning that contributed to a significant body of knowledge. Appropriate programming skills including advanced statistical modelling with big datasets and GIS-based spatial analyses are appreciated. He/she is expected to have ability to work independently and in close collaboration with multidisciplinary team.
He/She will work on the project 1) The influences of climate change and/or outbreak of chemicals on the function and integrity of aquatic ecosystem, 2) Test alternatives: can cell toxicity information (e.g., FET test) provides adequate protection for aquatic ecosystem? 3) Mechanism of energy transfer metabolism through different trophic aquatic organisms, or 4) The role of environmental microorganisms in aquatic ecosystem.
Salary and benefits: 1) ~280,000 RMB per year, in addition to annual leave, medical benefits, 2) one-time 20,000 RMB reward provided if he/she receives the first-class fund from the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, 3) rental housing provided by the University, 4) his/her children can study in the kindergarten or primary school of Shantou University.
Successful candidates with outstanding work performance will be preferentially considered for a faculty position in the Institute of Marine Biology, Shantou University.
