Usually a paper will experience the following process to be finally accepted and published.

1. MS ID number for a new submission.

A manuscript (MS) ID will be assigned to the newly submitted MS by the machine automatically.

2. Check the submitted manuscript and save MS in local computer

The administrator will check whether the authors have sumbitted the necessary files and the submitting authors have filled in all authors' information in the online manuscript system.
If not, the manuscript will be unsubmitted and the authors need to add and provide the necessary information and files.
If it's okay, then save all the files to the local computer.

3. Anti-plagiarism crosschecking.

The administrator will submit the new submission to the crosschecking system for similarity index checking.

4. EEIC initial review and SE assignment.

The executive editor in chief (EEIC) will first check the crosschecking results and the manuscript format (language and figure quality), and decide to reject, or return to the authors for revision or sent out for peer review. If she is not sure about the contents, she will assign them to the Scientific Editors (SE) for initial review. JMS has more than 30 SEs from diverse research fields.

5. initial review by SE. SE will make recommendation based on his own knowledge and judgment. There are three recommendations: Reject; Revision; and Sent out for peer-review.The system has listed about 20 reasons to reject a paper, the SE can directly click the corresponding items or state other reasons. Here are a few of them:One, lack of novelty but old knowledge; Two, serious experimental design defects; Three, very poor English, which can hinder the understanding; Four, very poor figures.

6. Editor assignment.

EEIC will assign an editor for a manuscript that needs to be sent out for peer-review.

6. Reviewer selection and Invitation. Editor will search related scholars and invite them to do peer-review.

7. Peer-review. The reviewers will be requested to complete review within three weeks. However, in some cases, they may spend longer time to finish the review. The reviewers will make Four recommendation: Accept; Minor revision; Major revision; Reject.

8. Editor first recommendation and EEIC first decision.

Editor will make recommendation according to several peer-reviewers’ recommendations and her judgement, and EEIC will make decision after overall considering the reviewers' comments, editors’ recommendation, subject balance. Usually, a paper with two Rejects will be rejected; a paper with one Reject and one Major revision will be rejected in most cases; a paper with two minor revision needs to be revised; a paper with two major revision will be rejected or needs to make major revision and the revised manuscript will be sent back to the reviewers for checking. But if both of two peer-reviewers think the manuscript has experiement design defects that are difficult to be revised, we'll make Reject decision.

9. Editing of the accepted paper.

Usually the editor edits first and then the EEIC checks the editing and decides whether it needs further revision to the authors or to the JMS language editor for language eiditing.

10. Layout and Proofreading

Edited papers will be layout and then proofread for thrice. Then the proofread papers will be sent to the authors for final proofreading.

11. Upload to the internet and be sent for print

The final papers will be uploaded to the JMS homepage, Springer, CNKI, and the IMHE-IR. At the same time, the journals are being printed in the factory.

12. The printed journal will be sent and the PDF file will be emailed to the authors, editorial members, reviewers.
