谁动了我的形容词?
Who moved my adj.?
I just finished talking to a post doc at my lab, to go over my comments on her manuscript. One thing I noticed is that she placed some adj. "randomly."
For example,
eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean (Choice A)
vs.
equatorial eastern Pacific Ocean (Choice B)
For those of you who are not physical oceanographers, you may say "big deal." No, it's no big deal, because 1+2=3, and 2+1=3, too.
Well, if you are a physical oceanographer, like me, you tend to divide the Pacific Ocean into the equatorial, tropical, mid-latitude, and high-latitude regions. Then, you would go for Choice A, implying that you are not talking about the wesern equatorial Pacific Ocean.
Now, don't tell me that I am picky, because I know I AM. So, let's back up a little, and say there is no big deal and you can use either one. In that case, please do me a favor by sticking to either A or B in one paper, and don't randomly use both.
