How to be subtle in email communication

It's funny that I received two cc-ed email this morning, and both senders (on different matters) told me how they felt before they sent their email.
Case 1: Dear Ron, Here is my latest revision of the first and last paragraphs (of our paper). If you have time, you might read this version. I do think they have included your suggestions, and I think they are ok now.
Case 2: Dear Jan,Would you have time for lunch next week? Maybe at the Garden Tea House? It is the nicest place for catching up.
