Benjamin Shaw and Dr. Daniel Broaddus with the editorial staff of the Chinese Journal of Aeronautics

Hello,
Recently, I gave an invited talk at a conference sponsored by the Chinese Society for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CSTAM). The conference focused on journal internationalization. My presentation gave the perspective of an international scientist. The presentation hopes to give journals insight into how they can attract international readers, authors, and reviewers.

In particular, I focused on:

Using the web to get ahead—The internet is the fastest way for readers to connect to your content. In addition, becoming a web resource can establish your journal as a subject leader.

Making your journal easy to read—Ensure that your journal’s articles are well written, and use clear, concise scientific English.

Making your journal easy to contribute to—Taking a few simple steps, such as using online submission and providing reference style files, can make it simple for authors to send you their latest findings.

Building a good reputation—Scientists need to trust your journal before they will invest their time in it. Therefore, building a good reputation is critical.

The primary goals of any journal should be to make your journal:

One that readers want to read.
One that reviewers want to contribute to.
One that authors will be proud to submit to.

I encourage you to take a look at the presentation, which is provided here:

CSTAM Journal potential

All the best,
Daniel Broaddus, PhD
