美国古植物学家Stephen Edward Scheckler在康奈尔大学师从Harlan P. Banks 教授(1913—1998)，专攻泥盆纪植物化石研究，分别于1970年和1973年获得硕士与博士学位。自1977年起，Stephen E.Scheckler供职于弗吉利亚理工学院生物系及自然历史博物馆（Department of Biologyand Museum of Natural History, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, VA），现已退休。
