已故美国孢粉学家Leonard R. Wilson 1906年出生于威斯康辛州（Superior,Wisconsin），1998年病逝于Oklahoma （Norman, Oklahoma）。他是20世纪美国孢粉学的一位先驱，著述很多，也培养了很多人才，包括Aureal Theophilus Cross(1916--2013)、Robert M. Kosanke (1917--1996)等著名孢粉学家和古植物学家。

   值得注意的是：20世纪上半叶美国化石孢粉学（或古孢粉学）的兴起一方面与欧洲化石孢粉学有密切联系，另一方面与美国本土现代植物形态学向化石植物拓展也密切相关。就Leonard R. Wilson的成长经历来看，他明显受到瑞典孢粉学家Gunnar Erdtman（1897--1973）的影响。而Gerhard Otto Wilhelm.Kremp（1913—1994）生于德国长于德国，曾跟随德国著名孢粉学家Dr.Robert Potonié （1889--1974）从事科学研究。
