Williams L. Crepet（1948--）与前进中的康奈尔大学古植物学

   美国康奈尔大学的古植物学研究历史可以追溯到19世纪80年代早期David White(1862--1935)的学习经历。一个多世纪以来，该大学已成为美国古植物学的一个重要平台，在国际古植物学领域享有很高的声誉。

   自20世纪20年代至80年代，植物学家Loren Clifford Petry教授（1887--1970）和他的学生--美国科学院院士、Harlan P. Banks教授(1913—1998)大力发展了泥盆纪植物研究，对美国乃至世界泥盆纪植物的研究产生深远影响。

   Harlan P. Banks退休以后，Karl J. Niklas（1948--）和Williams L. Crepet(1948--)等相继加盟康奈尔大学，使其古植物学的研究方向发生变化。

1969： B.A. Harpur College

1971： M.Ph. YaleUniversity, New Haven, Conneticut

1973： Ph.D. Yale University,New Haven, Conneticut

   1973年，Williams L. Crepet毕业于耶鲁大学，他的博士论文指导老师是北美古植物学名师Theodore Delevoryas（1929--）。Williams L. Crepet的博士学位论文题目是：“The reproductive biology of the Mesozoic genus Cycadeoidea”。

∮2 Williams L. Crepet的工作经历和研究兴趣

   1973—1975年，Williams L. Crepet在IU-Indiana University跟随David L. Dilcher(1936--)从事博士后工作，开始研究早期被子植物，后到UConn工作很多年( Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, University ofConnecticut)。他在Uconn的学生包括David Winship Taylor（1987年博士毕业）。Williams L. Crepet离开Uconn到康奈尔植物生物学系工作。

   Williams L. Crepet主要研究有花植物的起源进化及其与生态学的关系。
