2015年2月13日，我收到88岁高龄的澳大利亚昆士兰理工大学退休教授John Rigby的3个Email，他给我传来他的最新文章目录（截止到2014年）。Rigby教授在邮件中写到：“I am having a bad day.”我感到，他的身体状况不佳，但仍坚持工作！

   中国古植物学家李星学院士（1917--2010）生前称赞John Rigby为“天降古植物学家”。22年前，John Rigby访问位于北京香山脚下的“植物演化展览室”，并留言：
